topo-4 is a lounge chair concept inspired by aerospace technology. The central role of the design is played by the use of LDPE film as a seating surface. Transparent, lightweightand resilient, it stretches around the chair like a Aerofoil. The framework of topo-4 is a silhouette designed with the help of algorithms which optimally transfer occurring loads to the anchor points and legs. This technique of topography optimization originates in bionics and gives the design lightness and transparency with minimal material use.
